MARGATE – The Milton and Betty Katz JCC will host USA Triathlon’s Splash & Dash Youth Aquathlon, Sunday June 10.

The Splash & Dash series, launched in 2012, is designed to introduce youth athletes to the multi-sport lifestyle through the fast growing discipline of aquathlon, focusing on participation and fun.

“We are looking forward to hosting our first aquathlon, which is open to all children in the community ages 7-15.  Our heated indoor salt water pool is fully capable of providing our children with a fun, positive swim experience,” JCC Aquatics DirectorAlicia Fimple said.

Participants ages 7-10 will complete a 100-meter pool swim and a 1-kilometer  run, while athletes ages 11-15 will complete a 200-meter pool swim and a 2-kilometer run.  The run will be on a guided course around the Katz JCC.

All participants receive a T-shirt and finisher’s medal, and top age group medals will be awarded by gender. Free water ice will be provided by sponsor Margate Dairy Bar and Burger.

Entry fee is $40, and includes membership in the USA Triathlon Youth group.

Registration will be held 8-8:45 a.m. The aquathon starts a 9 a.m.
