ATLANTIC CITY – The Miller family of Longport is hosting the fifth annual Make the Best of It Bash 7-10 p.m. Friday, June 29 at Tropicana Casino Resort. The event honors their daughter and sister, Tara L. Miller, Esq., who died of melanoma in 2014 at age 29. All of the proceeds of the event will be used for melanoma research.

The Tara Miller Melanoma Foundation was founded by Tara Miller and her family while she was battling the disease, which is the second most common form of cancer in people 15-29 years of age.

Although she was able to get the best treatment available at the time, Miller knew that the treatments were just buying time. She formed the foundation to support the research needed to find effective treatments and ultimately a cure.

The event commemorates Miller’s motto of “making the best of it” despite the odds, and honors the foundation’s legacy, which has provided more than $2.4 million for melanoma research – $1.6 million of it to Penn Medicine’s Abramson Cancer Center Melanoma Program.

The event includes cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, a silent auction and after-party.

Tickets are $150 and can be purchased at http://bit.ly/2ltX7sv
