VENTNOR – The Board of Commissioners Thursday, June 28 honored the Jersey Shore Knitting Guild for keeping people in need warm for more than 25 years.

Mayor Beth Holtzman presented a proclamation recognizing the organization, which is celebrating it’s 25th anniversary this year.

The group knits hats, gloves, scarves during its annual Knit Out and donates them to area charities, such as the Atlantic City Rescue Mission, Atlantic County Women’s Center and Atlantic City schools.

“Thank you for your efforts to keep warming hands, heads, hands, necks and hearts of the community,” Holtzman said.

Several members of the group who were present received gift certificates to Annie’s Nails, where they will get well-deserved manicures.

The Jersy Shore Knitting Guild meets at Ventnor Community Center at 10 a.m. on the first Thursday of each month, except in July.
