Jon Dorenbos

MARGATE – Philadelphia football fans will continue celebrating the big Super Bowl win with veteran Eagles long-snapper Jon Dorenbos at the fourth annual Jackie and Hank Herskowitz Sports Night  event 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 16 at the Milton  Betty Katz JCC, 501 N. Jerome Ave.

“We’re honored to have this talented former Eagle as our guest speaker at the Katz JCC, especially during this magical time in Philadelphia’s history,” said Jeff Herskowitz, chairman of the Katz JCC Sports Night fundraising event.  “Jon has a remarkable life story. We’re looking forward to hearing how he used magic to help him overcome a childhood tragedy. I can guarantee that everyone will be motivated and walk away with a smile on their face.”

In 2016, Dorenbos amazed the judges of “America’s Got Talent” with his combination of magic and uplifting stories stemming from his difficult childhood. His unique performances earned him a spot in the finals and a third place finish in the competition among tens of thousands of contestants.

Practicing illusions since the age of 12, Dorenbos is a master magician who incorporates comedy and the love of football into his performances. Audiences experience a deeply personal and engaging show and discover the magic that has shaped Dorenbos’ life. From struggles that turned into successes and lighthearted stories from the Eagles locker room, Dorenbos delivers a night filled with fun, yet insightful storytelling.

Dorenbos played in the NFL for 14 years, 11 with the Philadelphia Eagles. He retired in 2017 after major open-heart surgery but continues his legacy as the host of “Inside the Eagles,” for which he won Emmy Awards in 2008 and 2015.

The JCC’s Sports Night event is namedfor the late Jackie and Hank Herskowitz of Margate whose philanthropy helped so many. Their philanthropic legacy continues with this fundraising event, which raises money for a scholarship fund benefiting children, seniors and the Atlantic County community with programs and services that enhance and enrich their lives.

General admission is $200 for one ticket or $375 for two tickets and includes dinner, open bar, and a silent and live auction. Ticket packages and sponsorship opportunities are available and include a VIP meet and greet with Dorenbos during the reception.

The event is supported by SPO Capital Investments, Kingsway Realty Company, Legacy Assets, Surety Title and Fox Rothschild.
