The 8th annual AC Triathlon will be held Saturday, Aug. 11.

ATLANTIC CITY – The 8th annual Atlantic City Triathlon will be held Saturday, Aug. 11. More than 1,500 athletes will be swimming the backbay near Bader Field, biking along Route 40 and the Atlantic City Expressway and running over the Albany Avenue bridge onto the World Famous Atlantic City Boardwalk, finishing in front of Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall at Kennedy Plaza.

The event includes two routes: .25 mile swim, 11 mile bike, and 5K run, or 1 mile swim, 22 mile bike and 10K run. For a complete schedule of events see http://delmosports.com/events/atlantic-city-triathlon-new-jerseys-best-triathlons.

Motorists should expect delays and detours as follows:

  • Exits 1, 2, 4, and 5 of the AC Expressway will be closed 5-11 a.m.
  • Expect delays east and west on Albany Avenue (Rt. 40) 7-11 a.m.
  • Use White Horse Pike (Rt. 30) or  AC Expressway to enter/exit the city
  • Ventnor residents should use West End/Wellington Avenue as an alternate route
