MARGATE – Downbeach communities will host a hurricane preparedness meeting 7-8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 21 at the Margate Municipal Building (Union Avenue school), 9001 Winchester Ave.

Join community leaders and utility officials to learn what you need to do to be prepared for hurricane season.

Representatives from Ventnor, Margate, Longport, Atlantic County, South Jersey Gas and Atlantic Electric will be on hand to answer any questions. Retired National Weather Service forecaster Jim Eberwine will offer a weather outlook presentation.

Discussions will include the importance of having a “Go Kit” and supplies, how to effectively evacuate, become a member of your town’s Community Emergency Response Team, and the importance of registering in advance for the CodeRED notification system.
