VENTNOR – Seniors walked the runway Friday, Sept. 7 to show they have pizazz and what it takes to be a fashionista. Several women and one man modeled their favorite fashions and each outfit told its own story.

The idea of having a senior fashion show at the Ventnor Library was a fun thing to do for seniors, but it was Joy Jurnovoy who came up with the idea after speaking with a woman in New York City.

“A woman in New York told me to always dress for the theater of your life,” Jurnovoy said.

Each of the contestants talked about what inspires them to dress up in their own particular style, which included wearing outfits that were gifts from loved ones, dressing in monochromatic colors from head to toe, honoring hurricane survivors of Puerto Rico, the culture of China, or supporting people with developmental disabilities.

Jurnovoy joined Ms. NJ Senior America 2018 Suzie Neustadter and Ms. New Jersey Senior America 2008 Johanne Santori, who served as judges. Although no prizes were awarded, each contestant received a single red rose.
