VENTNOR CITY – The Ventnor Business Association has rescheduled the “Welcome Stockton” Music Festival originally scheduled for Sept. 8 at the Newport Avenue beach pavilion. Although there was a rain date, the soggy weekend forced cancellation of the event.

The music festival is now scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 20 at an earlier time – 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The event is being held to welcome Stockton students and faculty to their new home in neighboring Atlantic City. The VBA recently secured the services of a Stockton intern, who will enlist Stockton students to add to the celebration.

Local musicians, crafters and businesses will converge on the lawn and beach behind the library, 6500 Atlantic Ave., to introduce their services, entertain and create community.

“We will be collecting non-perishable food items for the Community Food Bank of New Jersey,” VBA’s Lori Colaianni said Thursday.

The most needed foods are canned meals, soups, peanut butter and canned fruits.

The family-friendly event features playtime for youngsters along with face painting and various food and crafts vendors, a drum circle, belly dancing and live musical performances.
