The Atlantic County Library System/Ventnor, 6500 Atlantic Ave., has announced the following line up of programs for the month of October.

GATHERING WOOL

Atlantic County Library System/Ventnor welcomes all adults to join a quilting and knitting group that meets 10 a.m. to noon every Tuesday, Oct.2 through Dec.18 (except Nov. 6).The program is free and all levels of experience are welcome. Join the group to stitch, loop, craft and chat. Do you love to knit or crochet? Or would you like to learn how to create original handcrafted blankets, scarves, sweaters and more? You won’t find a cozier club anywhere.

TAKE CONTROL OF YOUR HEALTH:DIABETES SELF-MANAGEMENT EDUCATION ANDSUPPORT PROGRAM

Atlantic County Library System/Ventnor will provide a six-week diabetes workshop 1-3:30 p.m. Wednesdays, Oct.3 and 10. Learn how to manage your diabetes symptoms, communicate with your health care providers, improve eating and exercise habits, and cope with stress, fear and frustration.

READ AND PLAY BABY

Atlantic County Library System/Ventnor invites little ones between the ages of 12-36 months to its young storytime activity 10:30 a.m. Thursday mornings, Oct. 4 through Dec. 20 (exceptNov.22).Comeenjoystories,songs,stretches,rhymes,puppets,feltboards, fingerplays and more with your child, all designed to develop early literacyskills.

CHECKMATES CHESS CLUB

Atlantic County Library System/Ventnor holds an open chess program for all ages noon to 4:30 p.m. every Saturday,Oct. 6 through Dec. 29. Exercise your mind. We welcome all to the challenge of playing a friendly game of chess along with others.

COMPUTER CLASSES

The Atlantic County Library System/Ventnor offers free computer classes in email and social media basics for adults and teens. Registration is required for any class. Participants must bring their own mobile device and be experienced using a mouse and keyboard. EMAIL BASICS is offered 2-3:30 p.m. Monday, Oct.15, with a focus on Gmail. Create a free email account using a popular emailprovider.SOCIAL MEDIA BASICS is offered 6-7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24 with a focus on Snapchat. Learn how to use popular social media platforms.

INTO THE EVENING BOOK CLUB

Atlantic County Library System/Ventnor will host a monthly book club for adults 6:15 p.m. Thursdays, Oct. 25 and Nov.29. Join in the discussion of great books in good company. October’s selection is “The Great Alone”by Kristin Hannah, and in November the group will discuss “Christmas Bells”by Jennifer Chiaverini.

HISTORY EXPLORERS

Atlantic County Library System/Ventnor will provide a series of monthly history-based events 10-11:30 a.m. Saturdays, Oct. 27, Nov. 10 and Dec. 8 for kids and teens ages 10-14. Journey back in time to visit fun destinations through books, costumes, and themed activities. October, Haunted Places; November, The Real First Thanksgiving; December, The Titanic.

TRICK OR TREAT @ THE LIBRARY

Atlantic County Library System/Ventnor with host trick-or-treat at the library 5-745 p.m. Wednesday,Oct. 31 for ages up to age 13. Remember to make the Ventnor branch one of your trick-or-treating stops. Have your photo taken and grab some sweets, while supplies last. Please advise staff of any foodallergies.
