ATLANTIC CITY – Stockton University will host its first-ever Coast Day 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20 at the Atlantic City Academic Center, 3711 Atlantic Ave. The public is welcome.

The event will showcase coastal zone research and activities by Stockton faculty, staff, and students. Local experts on fisheries, wetlands, birds, and beaches and representatives from the Coastal Research Center and Stockton Marine Field Station will share their knowledge.

Among the special programs are:

12 p.m. – Dr. Levi Fox will perform as Nucky Johnson to teach visitors about the early history of Atlantic City.

12:30 p.m. – Kristin Jacobson will teach about American literary and visual representations of coastal pollution.

2 p.m. – Stephen Nagiewicz, will talk about maritime history of New Jersey.

Bass Pro Shops will host kids workshops in Room 213 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be six workshops: marine debris, coastal populations, wetlands, Pinelands, kids and fishing, and beach nesting.

Participants will also get the chance to watch waves move sand in a sand flume, and interact with marine life in a touch tank.  The campus cafeteria will have a special Coast Day menu.
