Downbeach communities know how to celebrate the holidays, whether it’s Hannukah, Christmas or Kwanzaa, there’s lots of family fun to be had during December.

Ventnor

Dec. 7

Santa Claus is Coming to Town and will be touring homes in city with the Ventnor City Fire Department and passing by your house starting at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7. See the map below.

Dec. 7

Last day for Toys for Tots collection at Ventnor City Hall, 6201 Atlantic Ave. Drop off new and unwrapped toys for distribution to children in the community. Deadline for dropping off is 3:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7.

Dec. 8

Cardinal Bistro will be holding a Toys for Tots Pancake Breakfast 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8. The restaurant is located at 6525 Ventnor Ave.

Dec. 8

Annual New York City Bus Trip Saturday, Dec. 8. Visit the Big Apple and shop till you drop. Bus leaves Ventnor Heights Baseball Field at 8 a.m. and departs New York City at 6 p.m. Cost is $40 per person. Contact the Recreation Department at 609-823-7950.

Ventnor Education Association annual Holiday Pancake Breakfast with Santa will be held 9-11:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 8 at the VECC, 400 N. Lafayette Ave. Fun for all ages, breakfast, crafts, face painting, pictures with Santa, and holiday music presented by our students. Get some of your holiday shopping done atthe Ventnor Home and School Association’s Holiday Shop. Tickets are $8 for adults, $5 for children, $20 for family of four. Purchase tickets at the door.

Ventnor City Cultural Arts Center Holiday Art Show and Sale will be held 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8 at the center, 6500 Atlantic Ave. Features local artists and their hand made works. Live music and refreshments available.

Dec. 9

Ventnor City Tree Lighting will be held 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9 at Ventnor City Hall, 6201 Atlantic Ave. Christmas carols, cookies and hot chocolate, and a special visitor. Bring your camera.

Dec. 22

Ventnor Business Association Cookie Crawl 10 a.m.-2 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 22 at various locations. Patrons travel business to business collecting one cookie from each stop and adding to their tins, and ending at Sea La Vie. Includes raffle for giant stocking full of presents and toys at each location. Drawing at Sea La Vie 2:30 p.m. Contact Christina Rubenstein events@vbanj.com.

Margate

Dec. 8

The Margate Fire Department and FMBA Local 41 are hosting Lunch with Santa and the Firefighters at noon Saturday, Dec. 8 at the Margate Municipal Building, 9001 Winchester Ave. Lunch includes pizza, juice and candy, and pictures with Santa.

Dec. 31

Bay Atlantic Symphony will hold a free New Year’s Eve Concert 7:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 31 at the Dominick A. Potena Performing Arts Center, 7998 Monmouth Ave. The performance includes pieces by Mozart, Puccini and Verdi. Conductor Jed Gaylin will lead a 40 piece orchestra that will feature tenor Alok Kumar.Admission is free, but tickets are required. Pick up tickets at the Margate City Public Library, 8100 Atlantic Ave. Tickets available for city residents, two per household, on a first-come, first-served basis starting Nov. 24. Mitten Tree donations accepted through Dec. 31 at Longport Borough Hall, 2305 Atlantic Ave. Drop off a pair of mittens, gloves, scarves or hats and help decorate the Mitten Tree.

The Longport Historical Society presents its annual Holiday Concert 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9 at the historic Church of the Redeemer, 20th and Atlantic avenues.

Through Dec. 18

The Longport Police Department is collecting new, unwrapped toys for the 2018 Atlantic County Toys for Tots program, hosted by the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve. Drop off toys in the designated drop box in the lobby of the Police Department at the rear of Longport Borough Hall, 2305 Atlantic Ave., now through Tuesday, Dec. 18.

Dec. 5

The Atlantic City Free Public Library presents Hanukkah: Kosher Jazz Trio concert Wednesday, Dec. 5, at 1 p.m. at the main branch, 1 N. Tennessee Ave. Enjoy Yiddish Swing tunes, Klezmer and Israeli Horas, Hanukkah hits, jazz, bossa nova and rock and roll. Performance is free.

Mud Girls Studio Open House and Sale, 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8 on the second floor of St. Michael’s Churcy, 10 N. Mississippi Ave., Atlantic City. Parking in back on Georgia Avenue. Meet the women behind the works and check out their latest creations. Items are limited. Custom orders available.

Atlantic City will hold its second annual Christmas Parade 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8 on the World Famous Atlantic City Boardwalk. As many as 50 floats, bands, groups. Parade route is Vermont to Albany Avenue. Parties will be held at Bass Pro Shop and Tropicana.

Dec. 15

Atlantic City Free Public Library presents Kwanzaa: Afro-One Dance, Drama and Drum Theatre 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15 at the main branch 1 N. Tennessee Ave. Afro-One Dance, Drama and Drum Theatre will perform songs and traditional and contemporary dance, while also teaching about Kwanzaa’s history and principles. Performance is free.
