VENTNOR – Residents gathered Sundaynight, Dec. 9  to light the community Christmas tree outside City Hall.

The Ventnor Middle School Choir sang Christmas carols and James Pacanowski III played the saxophone. Officiating over the tree lighting was Mayor Beth Holtzman, Commissioners Lance Landgraf and Tim Kriebel and Congressman-elect Jeff Van Drew.

On the count of three, the tree failed to light. Technical difficulties delayed the tree lighting for a few minutes while commissioners scurried to find out what was the matter. The connection was finally made to the delight of those in attendance, and the colorfully lit tree showed off its bright red bows.

Participants enjoyed cookies and hot chocolate and children stood in line waiting to get the chance to tell Santa their holiday wishes.
