The Atlantic County Office of Emergency Preparedness has contracted the services of Civic Ready, an emergency notification system that will be used to notify all residents of Atlantic County in the event of a countywide emergency or life-threatening disaster. Such alerts will automatically be sent to every direct-dial land line phone in the county.

“The emergency notification system is an invaluable resource for both residents and property owners,” Atlantic County Executive Dennis Levinson said. “Time is extremely critical in an emergency and this countywide system enhances our efforts to protect lives and properties.”

Residents who would like to receive alerts to their cell phones and/or Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP) phones must register to add those numbers to the current Verizon 9-1-1 database. This includes those who may have previously registered these numbers with CodeRed, the former system used by the county.

Non-county residents with properties within Atlantic County are strongly encouraged to register to ensure they receive emergency alerts that may impact them and/or their properties.

Registration for county and non-county residents is also required to receive alerts for additional events such as flooding, severe weather, evacuations, hazardous spills, wildfires, etc.  This includes those who may have previously registered with CodeRed.
