AtlantiCare plans to build a medical arts center across the street from its Atlantic City campus.

ATLANTIC CITY – The New Jersey Casino Reinvestment Development Authority Tuesday, Jan 22 preliminarily agreed to give AtlantiCare the land and $15 million to build a $38 million, 65,000 square-foot medical arts facility for the Atlantic City community. The facility will be located at the corner of Ohio and Atlantic avenues, across the street from AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center.

“This facility – and all those who would work there – would help us continue to ensure our patients and customers have access to the quality care they need and deserve,” AtlantiCare President and CEO Lori Herndon said. “We are grateful the CRDA recognized the value of the care we provide and our need for more space as we grow these vital services. With the CRDA’s preliminary approval, we will initiate planning for the facility.”

The building will house classrooms to expand educational opportunities for graduate medical residents and undergraduate students; provide a new location for and expansion of the maternal/fetal medicine program; provide an urgent care center to meet the needs of the underinsured and uninsured; and provide additional areas for clinical services and programs. One floor will be dedicated to Fresenius Kidney Care Boardwalk, which provides dialysis care for 200 local and regional residents, and visitors.

AtlantiCare anticipates planning, approvals, and construction to take approximately two years, pending final approval from the CRDA.
