ATLANTIC CITY – The TangerKIDS grant program, an initiative designed to award grant money to schools in communities where Tanger Outlet Centers are located, has opened a call for entries within Atlantic County.

The TangerKIDS Grant Program was designed to satisfy the specific funding needs of local schools, such as the implementation of school-wide programs, rebuilding equipment and academic materials inventories and supporting athletic or band programs. Each year, more than $200,000 is awarded in individual grants to schools in need.

Grant applications must be submitted by the March 15 deadline. Teachers and administrators from Atlantic County schools may submit applications for programs and projects in which the majority of the activity will be completed between August 2019 and May 2020. Each school can submit multiple grant requests and each will be considered separately. Winners will be announced on April 19.

Past recipients include the Texas Avenue School in Atlantic City where music teacher Lisa Thieberger used a grant to purchase a yearlong subscription to Inside Music, a cloud-based music composition curriculum that allows students to create their own music.

Also My Tran, a second grade teacher at the Sovereign Avenue School in Atlantic City, used funds to create a reading sanctuary in her classroom and purchase 13 book collections, such as the Dr. Seuss collection and My Weird School set.
