VENTNOR – The Atlantic County Library System/Ventnor is currently raising caterpillars that will be released after metamorphosis.

On Thursday, April 25, the Read and Play Baby program featured a reading of the book, “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” by Ventnor Branch Manager Jaimie Vigue.

The story was selected in conjunction with the growing caterpillars that, once they emerge as butterflies in a few weeks, will be released in the garden behind the library.

The library offers a storytime activity for children ages 12-36 months 10:30 a.m. every Thursday. Little ones participate in a morning of themed stories, songs, stretches, rhymes, puppets, felt boards, finger plays and more, all designed to develop early literacy skills.

Parents are also invited to join the library’s 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program.
