Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon Tyner

ATLANTIC CITY – New Jersey Attorney General Gurbir S. Grewal, Atlantic County Proescutor Damon Tyner and NAACP Atlantic City Branch will host a community forum 6 p.m. Monday, April 29 at St. James AME Church, 101 N. New York Ave., to discuss police use of force and officer-involved shooting investigations.

Event is latest in series of community forums across state to address the attorney general’s “Use of Force Project” to enhance monitoring and transparency of use-of-force data. The community forum also will address the attorney general’s directive and new law that ensures independent investigations of officer-involved shootings, as well as police training programs related to cultural diversity and implicit bias.

Community leaders, advocates and stakeholders are invited to attend the forum, which will include a listening session.

Other panelists include Thomas Eicher, director of the Office of Public Integrity and Accountability; Atlantic City Councilman Kaleem Shabazz, president of NAACP Atlantic City Branch; Rev. Dr. James Coaxum III, senior pastor at St. James AME Church; and other law enforcement and community leaders.
