Tom Briglia/Hundreds of riders participate in Le Tour de Downbeach.

The 14-mile Le Tour de Downbeach will hold its annual “happy ride,” 10 a.m. Sunday, June 2 (rain date June 9) starting on the Ventnor boardwalk and riding through Atlantic City, Margate and Longport before ending at Tomatoe’s restaurant on Amherst Avenue in Margate, where a barbecue will be held.
Anyone wishing to ride the wave of yellow T-shirts should bring their smiley face with them to enjoy the beauty of the seaside communities.

The first 200 riders receive a Le Tour de Downbeach reusable eco-friendly tote and commemorative T-shirt.
Riders get a happy face tattoo at the start of the ride.

Tom Briglia/Volunteer Pete D’Orazio holds a smiley face sign, this year’s theme of the Le Tour de Downbeach family “Happy Ride,” June 2.

“Le Tour is a great way to kick off the start of summer, one of the happiest times of year and enjoy the biggest family bike ride at the shore,” according to event coordinator and AAAA Bike Show owner Mike Wiesen. “We look forward to seeing all of our good friends on June 2.”

The Margate Business Association, Margate City, Ventnor City, Longport Borough and the City of Atlantic City collaborate for the annual event, which began as Le Tour de Ventnor in 2008, and has hundreds of riders each year. Other sponsors include Tomatoe’s, Margate Dairy Bar and Burger, 95.1 WAYV, 100.7 WZXL, Congo Falls and Joe Berretone, DMD.

Pre-Registration cost is $20 per rider or $15 each for four or more family riders. Day of ride registration starting at 9:30 a.m. is $25 per rider or $20 each for four or more family riders.
