Street Life Concert will be held June 19 at Harrah’s Resort.

ATLANTIC CITY – Nearly 30 singers and musicians will perform a live concert benefiting the Hansen Foundation 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 19 at the Concert Venue at Harrah’s Resort Atlantic City. The box office opens at 5:30 p.m. and doors open at 6:45 p.m.

Inspired by a poignant song about a woman’s personal account of life on the streets as a drug addict, the 14th Street Life Concert will feature performers and a host of talented musicians with the theme “Celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Woodstock.”

Special honoree this year will be Lisa Bee, who spearheaded the Matthew Bee Memorial Fund in honor of her son who succumbed to the disease of addiction on Sept. 16, 2017 at age 21. To honor his memory, his family created the memorial fund, which dedicates the money raised to the Hansen Foundation. To date, more than $175,000 has been donated to the foundation to help other individuals and families fighting this disease.

Proceeds of the event will help provide a supportive and safe environment for people recovering from substance use disorders through resident scholarships and supplemental needs through the foundation’s life-saving endeavors, including Serenity Houses, Serenity Estates, Hope Farm, Enlightened Solutions, Enlightened Solutions Detox and Enlightened Café.

This year’s concert is produced and directed by Waynard Scheller of Rainbow Full of Sound with well-known Philadelphia entertainer Eddie Bruce serving as master of ceremonies. Special guest include Tom (TC) Constanten, formerly of the Grateful Dead; Slick Aguilar, formerly of Jefferson Starship; Bob Paparazzi, formerly of Blood, Sweat & Tears; and Zach Nugent of the Jerry Garcia Band and guitarist for Melvin Seals and JGB.

The inaugural concert in 2005 and the accompanying CDs were the brainchild of Northfield’s Nina Soifer. Soifer became inspired when hearing Hansen Foundation Chairperson Jennifer Hansen’s song entitled, “Street Life,” which Hansen wrote about her own experience of having lived life on the streets with a drug addiction.

“Jennifer’s song really touched me, and I knew it would touch others as well,” Soifer said. “That gave me the idea to put together the CD and concert. Melanie Rice and Bob Fowler immediately came on board as the producers, and they donated countless hours of their time, talent and expertise to make this event a reality and an overwhelming success year after year.”

“We have been blessed over the years to have so many exceptionally talented singers and musicians perform at the Street Life concerts,” Hansen said. “This year is no exception. Our heartfelt thanks go out to everyone involved, including the performers, sponsors and Harrah’s, who each year generously donate the venue, as well as the lighting and sound crew.

“As we have done each and every year since the Street Life Concert’s inception, we want to celebrate the chance at a new life that the Hansen Foundation has given to so many people struggling with addiction,” she added. “It is our sincere hope that Street Life 2019 will lend hope and inspiration to those who are working through their own struggles with addiction.”

General admission tickets for the concert are $30 each in advance; $40 at the door. VIP admission tickets are $150 each and include an after-party reception with the musicians following the show.
