The Margate Community Farmers Market held in the parking lot at Steve & Cookies By the Bay on Amherst and Monroe avenues opened for the summer Thursday, June 20.

Although it’s still a bit early for those fabulous Jersey tomatoes, corn and peaches, there was plenty of Jersey Fresh cold crop vegetables, including kale, Swiss chard, beets, radishes and herbs.

The market has several new vendors this year including Misty Meadow Sheep Dairy in Petersburg, which offers sheeps milk yogurt, non-GMO lamb and whey fed pork, sheeps milk soaps and beeswax candles and home-spun wool.

Pure Batch baked goods has delectable gluten and nut-free truffles and cookies made by founder and CEO Mama Millin. The Cheese Etc & Gourmet Gifts stand offers artisan cheese spreads, and Melano Nutrition & More, has custom cooked nutritional products that are “actually good for you,” Cookie Till said.

Of course there are the old standby vendors that offer locally sourced and produced products, including honey, crepes, smoked fish, day boat scallops, flowers, pizza and more.

The market will be open 8:30 a.m. to noon every Thursday morning until Labor Day.
