Hula minons milled about during Beachstock.

MARGATE – Droves of revelers looking for a fun-filled day at the shore flocked to Beachstock: The Planet’s Biggest Beach Party held on the beach behind the Margate Public Library, Saturday, June 29. It was sizzling hot, but the drinks were cold and the food spicy and sweet.

The Margate Business Associations puts on the annual beach bash as a welcome to summer. The event included live music all day long, fun activities for children, lots of street food and adult beverages on tap.

The Chill Zone, which consisted of an outdoor couch under a large umbrella, offered a shady spot to enjoy the cool sea breeze, kites few above, and Downbeach sand sculptor Matt Deibert worked up a little sandy magic on the beach.

South Pacific Island Dancers taught adults and children how to get low in limbo and hula to the beat of Tahitian drums.

Despite the threat of a rainstorm, a bonfire was planned for dusk along with a showing of the Disney movie, “Moana.”
