MARGATE – The Police Department held its annual Law Day event Thursday, Aug. 8 in the parking lot at the Margate Public Library.

The event gives residents and visitors the opportunity to meet local police and learn more about how they protect citizens on a daily basis.

Various vehicles used to serve and protect were on display. Children were able to climb aboard a motorcycle, dune buggy, police cruiser and a giant Army personnel carrier that’s used to rescue people during high-water events. Also on display were weapons police use, including handguns, rifles, bulletproof vests, batons and more.

Members of the police department provided children with hats, giveaways, and they cooked up some hotdogs for everyone to enjoy.
