Seventh grader Olivia Stone delivered $1,500 worth of school supplies to the Longport Police Department for distribution to students in need.

LONGPORT – Police here commended Olivia Stone, a seventh grader at the Eugene A. Tighe Middle School, for her efforts to help local police departments with their “Back to School Supply Drive.”

Stone visited the Longport Police Department Wednesday, Aug. 21 to deliver more than $1,500 worth of school supplies.

“Olivia heard that Longport Police were hosting a Back to School Supply Drive and she raised money, purchased and donated over $1,500 worth of school supplies,” according to a release.

Communication Officer Sgt. Ray Burgan said the department joined forces with police in Margate and Ventnor to collect new book bags, pencils, pens, notebooks, notebook paper, crayons, erasers and folders. The police departments will be forwarding all the supplies collected during the month-long supply drive to the Atlantic City Police Athletic League, which will distribute them to local school children.

“Our agency would like to recognize Olivia for going above and beyond to help local children in need this upcoming school year. Her generous donation greatly contributed to the success of this event and will have a tremendous impact for many children within the community,” Burgan said.
