LONGPORT – Visitors making the most of the final summer holiday weekend zipped by the Longport Historical Society on their bicycles or jogged by checking out the artwork on display.

A few of them stopped to view vivid ocean scenes created by artist Sandra McDonough of Linwood. Award winning artist Marilyn Chackman of Margate exhibited her woodblock prints in front of the porch at the historical society’s museum.

Historical Society Treasurer Debbie Kelly was busy selling limited edition T-shirts bearing a rendering of Longport’s famous smiley faced water tower.

Liquidating the inventory of Longport memoribilia gives the museum the opportunity to order a new stock of sweatshirts, car magnets and greeting cards for the 2020 summer season, Kelly said.
