MARGATE – The Margate School District’s Tiniest Titans got a taste of what the school year will be like at a welcome party held in the William H. Ross School cafeteria Wednesday, Sept.4.

About 40 kindergarten students enjoyed sweet treats as they met their classroom teachers and classmates at an ice cream social hosted by the Margate Education Foundation. Parents served up ice cream and the fixings needed to make fabulous sundaes – a great start to the school year.

Ross School Principal Audrey Becker, who spend most of her education career at the Eugene A. Tighe Middle School, said she was excited to be serving her first year supervising the elementary school.

“I taught some of their parents,” Becker said.

Her former students Angelique Scouloudis and Erin Funk brought their children, kindergarteners Demetri Scouloudis and Harper Lee Horner to the social.

Kindergarten teachers Terry McGonigle and Merri Mallen milled about the room looking for students whose names were on their class lists.

MEF parents brought the children up on stage for a reading of the book, “The Night Before Kindergarten.” When asked, the children said they agreed with the opening line of the book, “‘T’was the night before kindergarten, and as they prepared, kids were excited, and a little bit scared.”
