Nicandro Rodriguez

LONGPORT – Police here have arrested an Atlantic City man and are looking for a second man in connection with several automobile thefts.

On Sept. 11, at approximately 4:46 a.m., Ptl. Frank Lupperger observed two males walking through residential properties in the area of 36th and Ventnor avenues. When they stopped the men to conduct a field interview, one of them fled and remains unknown at this time. The second man was detained and later identified as Nicandro Rodriguez, 18, of Atlantic City.

An on scene investigation revealed Rodriguez to be in possession of numerous items from multiple vehicle burglaries. Lupperger and Ptl. Gabriel Guerrieri took Rodriguez into custody and charged him with burglary, theft, and unlawful possession of a weapon.

Police are asking anyone from the Downbeach area who believes they may have been a victim of a motor vehicle burglary to contact Lupperger, Guerrieri, or Sgt Ray Burgan for further information regarding recovered property in the department’s possession.
