MARGATE – Brilliant sunshine and not too hot temperatures greeted visitors to the annual Fall Funfest by the Bay Saturday, Sept. 21. Thousands of visitors turned out for the annual celebration that welcomes autumn to the Jersey shore.

Children and adults learned about marine life, while sea turtles raced to the finish line in a corral set up next to Ray Scott’s Dock. Children dug through a tabletop sandbox to find sharks teeth, and fishers learned that monofilament fishing line should not be thrown into the water or it could strangle marine life.

Shoppers browsed vendor tents for everything from hand-crafted jewely, mosaic surfboards and decorative witches hats, to photographs of local landmarks, CDB oils and dioramas of world class stadiums.

Food offerings included crab cakes, a variety of root beers and cotton candy.

Miss New Jersey 2019 Jade Glab posed for pictures and signed autographs while children attending local gymnastic groups tumbled on the mat.

The festival continues until the 11th hour with Funfest After Dark for adults only starting at 8 p.m.

The fun continues Sunday with Steve & Cookies annual Dog Show.
