MARGATE – The Board of Commissioners honored retired Deputy Fire Chief Scott Winneberger Thursday, Oct. 3 at Historic City Hall.

Winneberger retired last month after 28 years as a Margate firefighter. Commissioner John Amodeo read a proclamation commending him for his “exceptional level of dedication and professional excellence.”

Winneberger thanked his brothers and sisters in the Fire Department, along with police, “who had our backs,” and city employees. He said he was honored to work in a city with 82 years of Winneberger history, that he looked forward to coming to work every day, and would treasure the friendships made during his career.

He said despite a 15-year age difference, Fire Chief Dan Adams, who joined the Fire Department the same day he did, “was a great role model for me even though he’s 15 years younger.”
