Traffic Advisory

MARGATE – The Downbeach Express, Margate bridge and causeway, was temporarily closed today to make emergency repairs to an electric pole, a Downbeach Express representative said.

The Egg Harbor Township Police Department issued an advisory on its Facebook page at 11:20 a.m. that the roadway had been closed until further notice.

However, the Downbeach Express representative said the roadway would likely open around 4 or 5 p.m. after repairs are completed.

Motorists are advised to use the Longport bridge to access the mainland, or the Dorset Avenue bridge in Ventnor, which is now reopened after being closed this morning due to flooding during high tide.

National Weather Service has indicated that the last of three extremely high tides that started Wednesday evening will occur tonight around 8 p.m. causing moderate flooding, which will likely close the Dorset Avenue bridge. There will also be minor flooding during Saturday morning’s high tide at 8 a.m.

Motorist should plan alternate routes.
