The Every Breath Counts walk will be held on the Ventnor boardwalk, Saturday, Nov. 16.

VENTNOR – The Every Breath Counts Foundation will be hosting its 14th annual Walk for Lung Cancer Awareness 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 16 on the Ventnor City boardwalk. The walk is designed to raise awareness about lung cancers and the need to fund life-saving research.

The Every Breath Foundation, which was established by a dedicated group of South Jersey oncology nurses, has seen the struggle that patients and their families go through battling lung cancer.

“Unfortunately, lung cancer researchers do not get the funding necessary to eradicate this awful disease compared to other cancers,” organizer Rosemary Hilvert said.

In addition to raising funds for research, the foundation supports programs that provide services to lung cancer patients and their families.

Events include 3-mile and 1-mile fun walks. Check in is at 9 a.m. at St James Church Memorial Hall, Atlantic and Newport avenues.

Online registration is $25 per person in advance, $30 the day of the walk. Children under 12 can participate for $15 when escorted by an adult. Lung cancer survivors are free. Discounts are available for students and groups of 10 or more.

Proceeds from the event support the South Jersey Cancer Fund, the LUNGevity Foundation for cancer research and the GO2 Lung Cancer Foundation.
