MARGATE – The season is upon us and children are anxious to know if Santa will bring them something special.

The Margate Firefighters Mutual Benevolent Association held its annual “Lunch with Santa” Saturday, Dec. 14 at the Margate Municipal Building.

The children, wearing their holiday duds, played with balloons and enjoyed pizza, chips and juice drinks. The Margate Business Association provided materials for arts and crafts projects until Santa arrived.

Once the Jolly Old Elf was snug in his chair on the stage in the multipurpose room, good little boys and girls lined up to provide him with their Christmas wishes. Parents snapped away at photo memories, and each child was able to pick a toy from a huge box of stuffed animals.

At one point, firefighters’ cell phones started beeping, alerting the Downbeach EMS Task Force to respond to the report of a fire in an Atlantic City high-rise.

Nevertheless, the party continued, and children enjoyed the rest of their afternoon with Santa.
