FILE/The Longport Public Library celebrates its one-year anniversary July 28, 2018.

LONGPORT – Programming at the Longport Public Library, 2305 Atlantic Ave., has been enhanced with several fun public events over the next several weeks.

At 6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan 14, wordsmiths can compete in a Scrabble tournament. Prizes will be awarded for first, second and third place winners.

Tuesday Tastings continues 6 p.m. Jan. 21 with Chef Linda preparing New England clam chowder. Participants will taste her dish, learn how it’s made and take home the recipe. Registration is required.

Sandy Pages Book Club will discuss Kelly Harms’ “The Overdue Life of Amy Byler” 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 27. Other selections will be revealed for future discussions.

You can test your trivia knowledge in six rounds of questions during Tuesday Trivia, 6:30 p.m. Jan. 28. Test your knowledge of pictures, geography, history, entertainment, sports and “Name That Tune.”

The library is offering a Flower Arranging class 7 p.m.  Monday, Feb. 10. Open to Longport residents, registration required. Learn the art of flower arranging, helpful tips and make and take home your own arrangement.

Other weekly events include Longport Needlers 10 a.m. Mondays; origami class 4 p.m. Mondays; Pinochle 2 p.m. Tuesdays; and mahjongg 1 p.m. Saturdays.
