VENTNOR – The Atlantic County Library/Ventnor, 6500 Atlantic Ave., has announced programs for the month of March.

MAKERS DAY EXHIBIT

The library is celebrating Makers Day for the entire  month of March. If you create things, the Ventnor branch would love to learn more about them. All ages are welcome to submit a photograph of a creative project with a brief, one-para- graph description of what it is and how it was made.The branch will display your work in the Makers Day case in the lobby for all to admire.

ONE-ON-ONE COMPUTER HELP

One-on-one computer help for adults 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Mondays, March 2-30. Appointments are required. Navigate the internet, learn to use e-mail, Microsoft Word or Microsoft Excel. Contact the library branch to schedule an appointment by calling 609-823-4614.

GATHERING WOOL

Adult quilting and knitting group meets every Tuesday 10 a.m.-noon, March 3-31.The program is free and all levels of experience are welcome. Stitch, loop, croshet, craft and chat. Learn how to create original handcrafted blankets, scarves, sweaters and more.

LEGO CLUB

Lego Club for ages 5 and older 5-6:30 p.m. Tuesdays, March 3, 17 and 31. Gather with other Lego lovers to build something and share with other young engineers. We supply the Lego bricks, you supply the imagination and fun. The club will feature a different building theme each week. All materials provided.

ADULTING 101: BANKING and CHECK BALANCING

Banking and check-balancing class for ages 16 and older 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 4. Registration is required. Learn about personal finance, how to write a check and balance a checkbook.

READ & PLAY BABY

Storytime activities for little ones between the ages of 12-36 10:30 a.m. Thursday mornings, March 5-26. Enjoy stories, songs, stretches, rhymes, puppets, felt boards, fingerplays and more with your child, all designed to develop early literacy skills. Ask how to join the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program while you’re here.The storytime includes sensory elements that are helpful to children with special needs.

CHECKMATES CHESS CLUB

Open chess program for all ages noon – 4:30 p.m. Saturdays, March 7-28. Exercise All welcome to play a friendly game of chess along with others.

SING ALONG WITH BARRY

Adult sing-along with local musician Barry Jaffe 2:30 p.m. Saturday, March 7.

KROCHET KLUB FOR TEENS

“Krochet Klub” for teens, ages 12-18, 4 p.m. Tuesdays, March 10 and 24. Get hooked on crochet with fun projects. The first craft project will be a bookmark.

TAKE CONTROL OF YOUR HEALTH: DIABETES SELF-MANAGEMENT EDUCATION & SUPPORT

Six-week diabetes self-management workshop for adults 1-3:30 p.m. Wednesdays, March 11, 18 and 25 and April 1 and 8. Maggie Weaver, RN, explains how to manage your diabetes symptoms, communicate with your health care providers, improve eating and exercise habits, and cope with stress, fear and frustration.

MICROSOFT: WORD BASICS

Free computer class on Microsoft Word 2 p.m. Wednesdays, March 11 and 25. Registration opens two weeks before the session. Space is limited. Participants must be experienced using the mouse and keyboard. Learn tips and tricks and enhance your word-processing skills, documents and reports.

IRISH POTATOES: BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND

Irish Potatoes workshop for all ages 2 p.m. Saturday, March 14. If you missed it last year, come to the branch for a sweet class and enjoy learning how to make these St. Patty’s Day favorites. Please advise library staff of any food allergies.

HISTORY EXPLORERS

History-based event for children ages 7-12, 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 21. Journey back in time to visit fun destinations through books, costumes, and themed activities.This month’s theme is “It’s Greek to Me: Mythology and More.”

SPRING FASHION SHOW

Spring fashion show for adults 2:30 p.m. Saturday, March 21. Registration required. Share your spring style by showing up in your favorite outfit. Tell us why you love what you are wearing.

BRING A FRIEND, MAKE A FRIEND

Adults can enjoy a monthly gathering 3 p.m. Wednesday, March 25. Recent studies suggest that social networking is vital to a lifetime of health and well-being. Bring a friend, make a friend, and share the joy of learning. Local author Joy Jurnovoy leads the group to exchange thoughts on different interests, hobbies and talking points at each session.

INTO THE EVENING BOOK CLUB

Monthly book club for adults 6:15 p.m. Thursday, March 26. Join in the discussion of great books in good company.This month’s chosen selection is “The Glass Ocean” by Beatriz Williams.

RESUME BUILDING WORKSHOP

Free resume-building assistance for adults 11 a.m. Friday, March 27. Registration opens two weeks before the session. Space is limited. Participants must be experienced using the mouse and keyboard. Learn how to create and format ready-for-work resumes.

FROM RAGTIME TO SWINGTIME WITH THE VINTAGE JAZZ BAND

Adult jazz concert 2 p.m. Saturday, March 28. Come out to find all that jazz and more at the branch listening to The Vintage Jazz Band’s “From Ragtime to Swingtime” performance.
