LONGPORT – The Longport Public Library’s physical space is closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but its virtual space continues to grow.

“Our patrons continue to be our primary concern,” Library Director Ricky Gerhardt said.  “Although the building is not physically opened, we continue to expand services digitally and are here on the phone to help patrons with those services”.

Library staff will be taking phone calls 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Saturday as well as monitoring the library email, library@longportpubliclibrary.org, to assist patrons who need assistance with accessing this material.

The library is also adding materials to the Overdrive ebook site every few days, as well as expanding the checkouts for streaming movies on Hoopla and Kanopy from 10-20.  Patrons now also get access to the New York Times with their library card.

“We are also looking into adding some additional digital services as well,” Gerhardt said.  “We also remind patrons, if there is an ebook they are looking for, give us a call, send us an email, and we will get it for you”.
