On Saturday, May 16, Atlantic County public health officials reported four COVID-19 related deaths and 52 new positives

Three of the four fatalities were among residents of long-term care facilities:  a 93-year-old Galloway Township woman, and two Hammonton residents, a 79-year-old man and an 88-year-old woman. The fourth fatality was in a 64-year-old Atlantic City woman. All four individuals had pre-existing conditions that made them more vulnerable for complications.

The new positives were confirmed among 22 males, ages 6-88, and 30 females, ages 19-96 in the following communities: 11 in Pleasantville, nine in Hamilton Township, seven in Atlantic City and Hammonton, five in Egg Harbor Township, three in Buena Borough and Galloway Township, two in Margate and Mullica Township, and one each in Egg Harbor City, Northfield and Somers Point.

As of today, Atlantic County now has a total of 1,745 residents who have tested positive with 111 deaths. Fifty-four more residents have been cleared as recovered for a countywide total of 501.

Atlantic County will continue to provide COVID-19 testing on Tuesday, May 19 and Thursday, May 21 for symptomatic county residents with a doctor’s prescription. Testing is conducted behind the Hamilton Mall in Mays Landing. Appointments are available 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. each day and can be made online at www.aclink.org.

Residents should come prepared with their doctor’s script, proof of residency such as a driver’s license or utility bill, and their appointment confirmation. Those who are unable to keep their appointments are asked to cancel so others may have an opportunity to be tested.
