MARGATE – The annual beachfront fireworks display hosted by the Margate Mothers Association on the 4th of July has been postponed due to the COVID-19 crisis.

According to the city website, Mayor Michael Becker and City Commissioners John Amodeo and Maury Blumberg made the decision in the interest of public safety to postpone the fireworks display until after the summer season.

The new date for fireworks, which will be held on the bayside, will be Saturday, Sept. 26 during the annual Funfest By The Bay event.

According to Margate Police, the safety of residents and visitors is the city’s chief concern and it has become clear that the risks regarding the spread of COVID-19 have not reduced as much as previously predicted.

The city continues to ask that all take appropriate precautions and follow all guidance from health authorities.
