Sustainable Longport

The Borough of Longport is seeking to reinvigorate its green team, Sustainable Longport.

The borough is reaching out to residents to help continue its mission of informing residents and visitors about protecting and conserving natural resources and energy, reducing waste and leaving a better tomorrow for future generations.

In 2016, the Sustainable Jersey organization awarded Longport bronze certification and gave the municipality special recognition for its programming. The green team will be challenged to obtain re-certification by performing certain action items outlined on the Sustainable Jersey website.

Sustainable Jersey is a non-profit organization that provides the tools and training needed to help communities pursue sustainability programs. Funding in the form of grants is available to assist community efforts to reduce waste, cut greenhouse grass emissions, improve environment equity and empower communities to build a better world for the future.

For more information about how you can become involved in Longport’s sustainability movement, call Borough Clerk Monica Kyle at 609-823-2731, ext. 100, or email clerk@longport-nj.us by July 13.
