Chelsea Economic Development Corporation kicked off its month-long empanada contest Friday, July 31 under a big top at Knife & Fork, Atlantic City.

ATLANTIC CITY – The Chelsea Economic Development Corporation in partnership with ACDevco, kicked off its month-long Empanada Contest Friday, July 31. Participating eateries brought samples of their empanadas for a tasting event held under a big top in the parking lot at the iconic Knife & Fork restaurant on Albany Avenue.

The contest is designed to support Chelsea area businesses and highlight Atlantic City’s diversity. The restaurants boast the flavors and customs of El Salvador, the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Peru, Honduras, and Colombia.

Residents and visitors are being asked to purchase empandas at 10 local businesses during the month of August and then cast their vote for their favorite empanada at www.chelseaedc.org.

Participating restaurants include Mexico, Sabor Salvadoreno , Queens, Mr. Taco, El Gran Chalan, Rincón Catracho, El Patron, Lenox Café, Chismosa’s Kitchen at Celebrity Corner and Boom Market Café.

Winners will be announced online Tuesday, Sept. 1.
