On Saturday, Aug. 15, Atlantic County health officials reported the first death related to COVID-19 since Aug. 2 in a 98-year-old Hammonton woman. She was a long-term care resident who had pre-existing conditions that put her at higher risk for complications
Health officials also confirmed positive COVID-19 test results in 25 additional residents, 14 males, ages 9-62, and 11 females, ages 2-60. There were 59 more residents who have been cleared as recovered for a countywide total of 2,321 of the 3,777 confirmed cases. COVID-19 has now claimed the lives of 242 county residents
Today’s cases were identified as follows: 10 in Pleasantville; three each in Egg Harbor Township and Ventnor; two each in Absecon and Hamilton Township; and one each in Atlantic City, Brigantine, Buena Borough, Galloway Township and Margate.
Atlantic County will continue to provide COVID-19 testing at its drive-thru facility in Northfield at Rt. 9 and Dolphin Avenue, behind the county public works yard, 9-11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 18 and 25, unless otherwise noted.
The test site is available for both symptomatic and asymptomatic county residents with or without a doctor’s prescription. Residents must make an appointment for testing and provide proof of county residency and appointment confirmation.
If available, appointments can be made online at www.aclink.org. Those who are unable to keep their appointments are asked to cancel no less than 24 hours in advance so others may have an opportunity to fill those spots.

At this time, labs throughout the state are experiencing delays in reporting results due to the high volume of testing.
Health officials also remind residents to continue to remain vigilant to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19. This includes wearing face coverings, maintaining social distancing and avoiding crowds, washing hands frequently and sanitizing common-touch areas, and answering the call if contacted by contact tracers.
