A 70-year-old Northfield woman is the latest Atlantic County resident to die from complications of COVID-19. The long-term care resident had underlying health conditions that put her at higher risk. She is the 243rd county resident to succumb to COVID-19 since April 2.
Health officials also today confirmed 18 more residents have been cleared as recovered while 21 additional residents have tested positive.
Today’s confirmations were identified in 10 males, ages 6-77, and 11 females, ages 3-65. Seven cases were found in Egg Harbor Township, six in Pleasantville, three in Atlantic City, two in Galloway Township and one each in Brigantine, Hammonton and Ventnor.
To date, 3,826 residents have been confirmed for COVID-19 of whom 2,339 have since recovered.
Atlantic County will continue to provide Covid-19 testing by appointment at its drive-thru facility in Northfield at Rt. 9 and Dolphin Avenue, behind the county public works yard. The next test date is 9-11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 25.
The test site is available for both symptomatic and asymptomatic county residents with or without a doctor’s prescription. Residents must provide proof of county residency and appointment confirmation.
If available, appointments can be made online at www.aclink.org. Those who are unable to keep their appointments are asked to cancel no less than 24 hours in advance so others may have an opportunity to fill those spots.

Health officials urge residents to continue to remain vigilant to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19. This includes wearing face coverings, maintaining social distancing and avoiding crowds, washing hands frequently and sanitizing common-touch areas, and answering the call if contacted by contact tracers.
