SOMERS POINT – While COVID-19 may have temporarily changed the way we celebrate, it hasn’t changed the need for public support of Shore Medical Center’s cancer program.

Shore Medical Center announced that in lieu of its annual gala, it will present the “A Cause to Celebrate Golf Tournament” at Greate Bay Country Club Monday, Nov. 2, with a shotgun start at 11 a.m.

Funds raised will offset the cost of the ongoing oncology pharmacy upgrade, a new MRI for diagnostic testing, funding of a new prostate cancer screening program, continuation of the Penn Telegenetics program, and more.

Tickets for the tournament start at $150 per golfer, and sponsorship opportunities are available at www.shoremedicalcenter.org/a-cause-to-celebrate.

Each ticket includes a fresh packaged lunch and access to a post-event reception with an Italian buffet. In addition to golf, Shore will offer a 50/50 raffle and mulligan tickets. The event will adhere to all COVID-19 guidelines from the CDC regarding public gatherings and social distancing at the time of the tournament.

Over the last five years, Shore’s “A Cause to Celebrate” gala has raised nearly $2.5 million for Shore Cancer Center, with all funds raised directly helping local families.

“We are our proud of our doctors, nurses, and clinical support staff who provide patients with high quality, compassionate and safe care at Shore Cancer Center,” said Jessica Giles of Shore’s Medical Center’s Planned Giving and Development office. “This tournament allows us to come together to help people battling cancer receive the best care possible, right in their own community. We appreciate the support of all players and sponsors, and we look forward to wonderful event.”
