ABSECON – Join Together Atlantic County and Atlantic Prevention Resources will be hosting a radio town hall meeting on the topic of opioids and prevention, treatment and recovery efforts in the community. The radio town hall will take place 9-9:50 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13 WPG Talk Radio 1450 AM and 95.5 FM.

Speakers will include Chief Bruce DeShields of the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office, Angela Conover of the Partnership for a Drug-Free New Jersey, Scott Gras of AtlantiCare’s Star Program, and Laurie Smith of Atlantic Prevention Resources. It will be moderated by Atlantic Prevention Resources Executive Director Robert Zlotnick and hosted by talk show host Harry Hurley.

According to SAMHSA’s National Survey on Drug Use and Health, in 2018, approximately 10.3 million people aged 12 or older misused opioids in the past year. In addition, approximately 2.1 million people aged 12 or older had an opioid use disorder. The town hall will provide information about prevention, treatment and recovery initiatives throughout Atlantic County and the surrounding area. Guests will answer questions from call-in listeners.

Atlantic Prevention Resources is dedicated to preventing harm, caused by substance use and violence. Join Together Atlantic County, is a substance misuse prevention coalition whose goal is to prevent, reduce and or delay substance misuse among children.
