EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP – The 177th Fighter Wing of the Air National Guard will be conducting training exercises Wednesday, Dec. 30 to ensure it is able to respond quickly to emergencies near and far.

According to an announcement on its Facebook page, the area may hear rumblings from aircraft and in some areas near home base at Atlantic City International Airport, even voice commands.

“Residents in the surrounding area may hear exercise alerts over the giant voice system. It is designed to evaluate and ensure mission readiness in support of worldwide deployment,” the post stated.

The 177th, known as The Jersey Devils, received the Air Force’s Outstanding Unit Award in both 2018 and 2019. The award is present by the Secretary of the Air Force for units that provide exceptionally meritorious service or outstanding achievement.
