MARGATE – Following an increase in car burglaries, police are urging residents to lock their vehicles and keep key fobs and keys inside your home.

“Our area has seen an increase in vehicle thefts and in all cases it is believed that the vehicles were unlocked with the keys or key fob still inside,” according to a post on the Margate Police Department’s Facebook page.
Police also advised residents to keep windows and doors locked and secured when you are away from your home. According to police, the vast majority of our residential burglaries involve unlocked doors and windows.
“These simple steps would go a long way to reducing the incidents of crime in our community.”
