Spend a romantic Valentine’s Day inside Lucy the Elephant.

MARGATE – Many of you asked…so here is another opportunity to spend the night inside the world’s largest elephant. The Save Lucy Committee will be offering a romantic Airbnb overnight stay inside the iconic building on Valentine’s Day, Sunday, Feb. 14.

When Lucy was first listed on Airbnb last year, tens of thousands of people tried to book one of the three overnight stays, originally scheduled for March 2020. Due to the pandemic, the stays were postponed but took place in September.

Back by popular demand, this unique Valentine’s Day event is set as a fundraiser for the non-profit organization that maintains and operates Lucy the Elephant. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, fundraising in 2020 was down more than 45%, with many non-profits trying to stay afloat until the pandemic is over. This “once in a lifetime” opportunity to spend the night inside Lucy is one of several fundraisers planned for 2021 to overcome last year’s shortfall and ensure efforts to preserve and restore Lucy can continue.

The overnight stay will be offered on Airbnb only. The price for this unforgettable experience is $6,500 (plus taxes and fees) and includes a bottle of Dom Perignon, flowers and candy, a custom dinner for two prepared by Philadelphia Magazine’s 2013 top party planner and renowned chef, Jason Tell, and a continental breakfast Monday morning. The fee includes a $5,000 tax deductible contribution under IRS guidelines.

In addition, the staff at Lucy the Elephant is committed to providing a safe stay for guests and will follow guidelines set by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the New Jersey Department of Health and Airbnb’s COVID-19 Safety Practices, which include wearing a mask, practicing social distancing, and, for hosts and their teams, abiding by our five-step enhanced cleaning process.

Interested guests can book their Valentine’s Day evening at Lucy the Elephant beginning 12 p.m. Monday, Feb. 1 at www.airbnb.com/lucy.

Lucy will also be open every weekend for tours 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in January, February and March, as well as President’s Day Monday, Feb. 15.
