Let Us Eat – Please Beer and Spirit Tasting even benefits CFBNJ.

ATLANTIC CITY — A virtual beer and spirit tasting event being hosted by Little Water Distillery on May 4 will benefit Let Us Eat – Please, Inc., a charity formed by the Cooper Levenson law firm to feed children in summer through the Community Food Bank of New Jersey Southern Branch. The event will allow participants to sample unique spirits and craft beers at home while helping families who are food insecure.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, 93,000 residents of Atlantic, Cape May and Cumberland counties are projected to be food insecure, including one in four children or 32,130 children.

“Families shouldn’t have to choose between putting food on the table or paying rent or electric bills,” Cooper Levenson COO and Let Us Eat – Please Chairman Kenneth J. Calemmo said.

Let Us Eat – Please, Inc. was founded by the late James L. Cooper when he learned from his daughter, a teacher,, about New Jersey children who regularly attended school hungry. Starting with just one school district, the program has expanded each year to include additional area school districts. Every two weeks over the course of summer, families identified by the school as needing assistance, receive a 30-pound box of groceries, valued at more than $40, at no cost to them.

Event participants will pick up a tasting kit for two, featuring Little Water Distillery’s Prosperity Rum, Rusted Revolver Gin and 48 Blocks DARK Chocolate Martini, as well as craft beers from Hidden Sands Brewery, Pinelands Brewing Company and Three 3’s Brewing Company. The kits can be picked up at the FoodBank Southern branch, 6735 Black Horse Pike in Egg Harbor Township between April 29 and May 4. Hours are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. April 29 and 30 and May 4, and 10 a.m. to noon Saturday May 1. Ticket holders will be invited to watch the virtual tasting live 5:30-6:30 p.m. on May 4 , or on YouTube at their leisure after the event.

Tickets for the virtual tasting for two are $50, or $75, which includes a $25 donation for 75 meals. For more information or to purchase tickets, see https://give.cfbnj.org/event/let-us-eat-please-virtual-tasting/e332224.
