MARGATE – Volunteers sat under umbrellas Saturday on the hottest day so far this year to collect non-perishable food items for the Community FoodBank of New Jersey Southern Branch.

The events was organized by residents Joe and Barbara Leonetti and held in front of The Log Cabin social club on Jerome Avenue.

Regina Griffith of Egg Harbor Township collected food items for the food bank Saturday afternoon.

In addition to collecting boxes of food, Joanne Kenny, Carol Beckmann and Regina Griffith held a basket raffle to raise money for the food bank.

By the end of the day, volunteers accepted 485 pounds of food and raised $550 to support the food bank.
