ATLANTIC CITY – The Company of Collaborative Artists, a new New Jersey-based dance company, will hold an open class and performance on the Boardwalk by the Stockton University Atlantic City Residential Complex, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, July 8.

Aspiring dancers and dance students age 16 and older are invited to a class at 11 a.m. A public performance will be held on the Boardwalk at noon. The group is also recruiting new members.

Founding Director Camille Moten of Egg Harbor Township is an adjunct instructor at Stockton and the university is currently hosting members of the group for a residency.

The mission of CoCA is to curate innovative arts practices and productions for the movers of the new 2020s. The company supports the works, ideas, and voices of millennial artists of color in dance, for the purpose of progress, transparency and togetherness.

“We are looking at new ways to bring dance to the public,” Moten said. “Not every performance has to be in a theatre. We want to make dance more accessible to the community and create energy in the dance community as we emerge from the pandemic.”

A donation of $10 is requested for the class. Parking is available in the lot behind the John F. Scarpa Academic Center at Stockton Atlantic City, 3711 Atlantic Ave.

More information on the company is available at https://www.cocamoves.com/ or from Moten at Camille.Moten@stockton.edu.
