VENTNOR – Sustainable Downbeach volunteers will be holding a second Solar System Planetary Walk 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 28 on the Ventnor City boardwalk. The walk starts “under the sun” on the boardwalk between between New Haven and Newport avenues.

Sustainable Downbeach member Steve Jasiecki and NASA Solar System Ambassador Michelle Stella Riordan created the display, which is designed to scale, allowing participants to visualize the distance between the sun and other planets in the Solar System. The half-mile walk represents the 3.7 billion miles between the sun and Pluto. Every inch on the boardwalk represents 100,000 miles.

Participants will view informational posters about each planet, learn about the planets and receive answers to their questions about the solar system.

For those unable to attend, brochures for a self-guided tour are available at the Ventnor City Library.
