Regarding the Ironman Triathlon on Sunday, Sept. 12

Good afternoon:

This is a message from the Ventnor City Police Department Office of Emergency Management:

This Sunday, Sept. 12, the annual Ironman Triathlon will take place on the boardwalk in Ventnor City.

There will be 2,000 race participants running on the boardwalk and on the fishing pier between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. The boardwalk will be very congested with the race participants and volunteers.

NO bicycles are allowed on the boardwalk between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Please utilize the bike lane on Atlantic Avenue.

Also, the fishing pier is CLOSED from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 12.

There will be one lane of northbound traffic on Atlantic Ave between Suffolk and Somerset avenues and Washington and Martindale avenues and NO parking on the beach blocks of Suffolk, Somerset, Washington, and Martindale avenues from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.

To avoid traffic congestion and/or delays, please utilize Dorset Avenue to Wellington Avenue when accessing or leaving the area.

We are warning all bicyclists and pedestrians to use extra caution on Sunday, Sept. 12 due to the race.

Again, NO bicycles are allowed on the boardwalk between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 12 during this event. All bicycles should utilize the bike lane on Atlantic Avenue.
